Flamingoland, Malton, is one of my favourite Zoo's but unfortunately it's more of a theme park nowadays. They have two sub-species of Tiger, two Amur's and two Sumatran's. The two female Amur Tigers are called Chow and Naimair, who are twin sisters born 8th October 1993 this means there the oldest in the UK. They arrived in 1994 from Port Lympne. The second sub-species, the Sumatran's are a breeding pair, Bawa the male and Surya the female. Bawa the male was born 27th July 2008 at Wildlife Hertiage Foundation, he has a twin brother in France. Surya the female was born 5th February 2009 at Paignton Zoo. Bawa was the first ever Sumatran tiger at the park, he arrived on the 2nd September 2010 followed by Surya who arrived on the 7th September 2010.

Surya and Bawa were together when I arrived, Bawa was at the top of the platform whilst Surya was watching him on the second level. After a few minutes, Surya started being flirtatious and got the attention of Bawa. He then started mating with her, after a while Surya lost interest, she then turned and swiped at him!
The two Amur Tigers, Chow and Naimair were very active and were pacing all day today, one female (I couldn't make out which one) took a swipe at me which was very interesting but then she greeted me. Chow and Naimair were the most active out of all the Tigers that I've ever seen.
